Well, after a couple feeler blog posts and a long time toying with the idea, I have finally begun making preparations for a hand tool video podcast. I put together a short trailer video just to test out the video hosting service and you can watch that below. If all goes well, the actual video podcast should be up and running in a short while from now, after I finish my current project, a desk for my shop.

Thanks to every one who posted comments to the two previous blog posts about this or sent emails with your encouragement. Without all of your support I probably wouldn't have bothered to even pursue putting this together. Wish me luck and let's hope this all works out well. Stay tuned!

Good looking video, I liked the cuts (transitions) and was happy to see a glue pot in the first shot.

Thanks Stephen! Glad you caught the glue pot (I didn't even realize it made it into the shot until you mentioned it). The electric hot plate isn't very traditional but a wood stove wouldn't work too well in my tiny little space, especially when it's 90 degrees outside.

Love the intro. Great music, great close up shots, great transitions. A really professional looking segment. I am jealous of your camera and editing gear. I definately need to do some investing in my own gear to improve my show.

Dear Stephen,
I just viewed your first two podcasts. Great job!
I have been interested in wood for decades and am just becoming serious. I hope you will continue to share your love, experience and perspective. It is very helpful. (Because of your 2nd podcast I am asking for a marking knife for my birthday! I'm left-handed, so I'll get one that is ambidextrous.)

Rob,

Having been informed of your website and podcast by Shannon Rogers of the Renaissance Woodworker podcast, I have to say thank you (both to him and to you). I am a beginning woodworker (hobby) and want to focus more on hand tools usage, created and woodworking. So finding such a blog and podcast is wonderful to have. I look forward to your future podcasts and hope you eventually get taken up and carried by iTunes.
Furthermore, I like the fact that your shop is small and yet more functional than my garage sized "play" room is... The hide pot and the clean layout of your shop is a good inspiration for me to get my behind in gear to start on some clean up and decluttering.
